How to play Wedding Mad Libs
Players supply nouns, verbs, adjectives, and other prompted words without seeing the full story. The host inserts them, then reads the completed keepsake aloud.
Materials and setup
Print the word prompt and story pages separately, provide pens, and choose a reader. Briefly explain parts of speech for anyone who needs a refresher.
Play steps
- Ask for one word for each labeled blank without showing the story.
- Write the words exactly as offered, adjusting only tense or plurality when necessary.
- Insert all answers into the matching numbered blanks.
- Reveal and read the completed story to the group.
Host tips and variants
Keep contributions event-safe and let players replace a word that would embarrass a guest. Couples can create separate stories, or the whole table can vote on each word.
Example round
If the prompt asks for an adjective and the player says “sparkly,” that word might later appear in the hidden line “The sparkly toast surprised everyone.”
Design note
Separating prompts from the story preserves the surprise while the final printable doubles as a lighthearted event keepsake.
